All 25k have been groomed for classic and skate. 2-3″ of new snow.
All trails except East Overlook were groomed for both skate and classic last night. There is roughly a 3″ base. Ole Hyvaa and Hilfiker Hill have some thin spots and there are a few thin spots in the track on the Pincushion Mountain Loop, otherwise conditions are good on the whole system. Winter is finally here!
After the 3″ of snow that fell, I set out to roll some trail, which I did, but then I got bold and did a few laps with the Ginzu. Make no mistake, this is still rock skiing at best, but it looked good in the dark. West Overlook, Upper and Lower Snowman, groomed for skate and classic (classic track is thin-might be enough stubble and gravel where you don’t even need kick wax) North Advanced, skate skiing. Again, use caution, this is very early season skiing (although it’s not really early in the season) Happy Holidays!
Last night during the storm the Pincushion Trails were transformed. The following loops were groomed for classic and skating:East and west Overlook; Upper and Lower Snowman; Bed and Breakfast; Canyon Curves; Hilficker Hill; Ole Hyyva; North Advanced.Pincushion Loop will get groomed tonight. Groomers choice – Classic skiing all of it!
1″ new snow.
W. Overlook, Upper and Lower Snowman groomed for skating. (Classic tracks look good) I also put together a 5k loop that starts out on the Pincushion Mt. Loop for the first 2k, then follows North Advanced for the last 3k. Also, 3k Pincushion Loop is open, one wet spot. I’d bring …a scraper with me on all the trails today incase you find water under the snow.
Just got in from a ski under the lights, the sky was so dark the stars seemed to illuminate the night. Classic tracks were pretty good, light snow all day combined with just enough traffic. Skate lanes were also pretty good, able to keep an edge 99% of the time.
Hard to paint a pretty picture after nearly 20 hours of rain, but I’ll give it my best shot. Skate lanes on West Overlook and Snowmen were groomed. The classic tracks are a bit shallow after the melt, but I left the fresh snow that was falling in them. I would stay off the rest of the system unt…il things freeze up and we can put snow in the wet spots.
The trails at Pincushion are really shaping up nicely. Grooming has continued throughout the weekend. East and West Overlook, Upper and Lower Snowman, and North Advanced were groomed with the Pisten Bully for both classic and skate on Saturday. On Sunday, Pincushion Mt. Loop, Bed and Breakfast Loop, and Canyon Curve…s were groomed with the snowmobile for both classic and skate. The lights are on nightly.
